Ever had a bad day, or week, or month where you didn't eat what you should, maybe drank too much of the wrong things, did a little too much of "this" or "that"? Yep, that was me!
Even though I'm a coach, I'm human. I make mistakes, bad choices, I forget to focus on what matters, I need support too!
I finished this past weekend feeling bloated, tired and just plan "yucky"! I knew I hadn't been making the best choices, but doing this a few days in a row really made me wake up and notice! I got on the scale, and to no surprise, I gained weight. I gained enough weight that I was 5 pounds over my goal weight that I had accomplished 2-1/2 years ago! Ok, so 5 pounds doesn't seem like a big deal, but 5 pounds is just the start of the track that becomes 10 pounds, then 20 pounds, and then 50 pounds and so on. I had to get off that track and fast!
I had to make a choice to make a change. To go back to what I learned, what I knew worked. That night, I set-up my food for the next day. I planned and set myself up for success! I did the same the next day and the next. When temptations arose, I stopped, challenged myself, and chose the path that supported getting rid of these 5 pounds!
Two days later, I stepped on the scale to "check" on my progress, to make sure that what I was doing, what worked before, was working again. Of course it was! I was already down 2.6 pounds! The celebration was quick as I still have a few more pounds to go to get rid of those 5 and I'm not stopping there. I set myself a new goal to lose 10 pounds in 25 days! At this rate, I should achieve that goal, as long as I take it one day at a time.
We don't follow this health journey perfectly. We are perfectly imperfect. We are human. Give yourself grace when you make a turn, a decision, a choice that doesn't move you in the direction of your goals. Be conscious of that decision, that choice, that action, and learn from it.
